NFL Week 4 – Football Sports Betting2010.02.04. // betting, football, sports

2-3 last week, 6-5 so far for the season. Remember it’s a marathon, not a sprint. The goal is to win money over the course of the season. There will be some good and some bad weeks along the way.

New York Jets/New Orleans Saints UNDER 45 (-110)

Jets have a great defense. The Saints sat on their lead last week. The public is all over the OVER in this game, but the line has dropped from 48 to 45. The smart (and big) money is on the under.

Detroit Lions +10 (-110) over Chicago Bears

The Lions won a game last week! And the Skins aren’t that bad a team. I see the Bears winning this week, but I think it will be closer than 10. Chicago hasn’t won a game by more than 10 this year, and struggled last week against the Seahawks who had a lot of injuries. The Bears are also banged up on defense and Kevin Smith will play.

Baltimore Ravens +1½ (-110) over New England Patriots

The Pats only lost this season has come against a good defense. Baltimore is known of their defense. They can and will blitz all day and keep Brady out of the pocket and off balance. Also the Ravens currently have the best offense in the AFC.

Monday Night Football Play! (my first of the season)

Minnesota Vikings -3½ (-110) over Green Bay Packers

At home against his old team, expect Farve to win. The student (Rogers) does not become the mentor (Farve) this game. I don’t like the extra 1/2 point over 3, but I’ll take it since I still see value in this line.

That’s all for now. I’ll probably have a few plays tomorrow.

All lines are from BoDog.
09 Season Record: 6-5

NFL Week 5 – Football Sports Betting2010.02.04. // betting, football, sports

I know that these picks might seem a little strange with 2 sides and totals on 2 games. But I think they’re quality bets with value, so I’m on them. I’m also have a few leans that I’m not ready to pull the trigger on yet. I might by Sunday.

Houston Texans +5½ over Arizona Cardinals

The Cards are at home coming off a bye, which would normally mean trouble, but there is too much value in this line to pass. Zona can’t seem to shake the Super Bowl hangover, and they’re 0-2 at home this year. I’ll take the points on this side.

Houston Texans/Arizona Cardinals OVER 50

Neither team is very strong on defense. The Texans have a lot of offensive weapons and the Cards are always good to score a few points.

San Francisco 49ers -3 (-105) over Atlanta Falcons

San Fran is at home and going into a bye. They’re defense is good and should give the Falcons plenty of problems. Missing Frank Gore shouldn’t be much of a problem.

Atlanta Falcons/San Francisco 49ers UNDER 41

Again, San Fran’s defense is good and Frank Gore is out.

Indianapolis Colts -4 over Tennessee Titans

Indy’s headed into a bye and should be focused this week. The Titans should be close to giving up.

All lines are from BoDog.
09 Season Record: 8-7

NFL Week 6 – Football Sports Betting2010.02.04. // betting, football, sports

New York Giants +3 (EVEN) over New Orleans Saints

This is the match up of the week, and I expect both teams to be focused. This will also be the first real test for both these teams. The Giants have a cupcake schedule so far, with their only real challenge coming from Dallas. They easily won that game. The Saints beat the Jets with a rookie QB and Philly without McNabb. Two good, but untested teams… I’m taking the points. Expect the Giants to be able to get it done on both sides of the ball, and the Saints to have a little trouble against a good defense (like the problems they had vs the Jets).

Atlanta Falcons -3½ (+105) over Chicago Bears

Atlanta surprised me last week. Their offense is complete and their defensive play was better than expected. The Bears are coming off a bye, and will be ready to fight, but their defense just isn’t as good as it was in the past. They will need their offense to pick up the slack, and I don’t see that happening.

St. Louis Rams +10 (-120) over Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags have the better record, but they haven’t had a quality win yet this year. In fact they get their asses kicked by any decent team. Only 1 of their 2 wins came by 10 points or more. The Rams on the other hand are winless verse a much tougher schedule. I don’t expect them to win this week, but 10 points are too many.

I might be back with more later. I also have a strong lean for Monday Night. Still deciding on a play…

All lines are from BoDog.
09 Season Record: 9-11
